Meet the Bugs....

After my first book, Carnella Caterpillar: Jeepers Creepers was published and in hand, I realized I had actually become "friends" with the bugs.  They were real in my mind. I wanted to introduce them to all my listeners.  Thus began the process of not only writing a book, but "making" the characters.  So, my dear husband, Freddie, and friend, "Bud" began their creative adventure to "make bugs." The bugs from The Carnella Caterpillar book live in a garden. So after the bugs were made, I "knitted" grass and "grew" a garden for them to live in.  When we read, I introduce the bugs and tell a little about each one and the bugs sit quietly in the garden as I read the story. 

For my second book, Ladybug Grace, Have No Fear, I decided to change illustrators.  My bugs were still the same bugs but they just looked different.  So that meant Freddie and "Bud" had to, yes, you guessed it.... make more bugs.  This story is about a church so I planned how to showcase the bugs and a church window.  My idea, along with Freddie & Bud's talent gave me a very colorful and unique background to help tell my story.
